Raymond C. Yazzie – Navajo
Raymond C. Yazzie was raised in a family of silversmiths. His older brother, Lee Yazzie, had a great deal to do with Ray's becoming an artist. Lee's intricate, domed stone work helped define not only his own work, but that of Raymond's as well, though Raymond's can be smaller and finer cut.
Raymond has won numerous awards for his artwork, including Santa Fe Indian Market. His designs using Mediterranean coral in varying hues and rare natural gem grade turquoise make his intricate pieces collectible as well as eye catchingly beautiful. His designs may also include opal, lapis and sugulite.
Both Raymond and Lee are among the top ranked and most highly coveted Navajo artists working in gold and silver today. |
