Dina Huntinghorse
Dina Huntinghorse was raised by the Wichita tribe near Anadarko Oklahoma. Many of the themes in her fine jewelry are found from her early life on the Great Plains. Horses, buffalo, wolf and weather images predominate as themes in her jewelry. She learned her craft from her well known and respected late husband, Navajo jeweler Herbert Taylor. He taught her the art of overlay and inlay techniques that predominate in her art. Although jewelry is not a traditional art form on the plains, Dina has developed, since the early 1990s, her own style as a self taught jeweler able to celebrate her past. She has received many awards from Santa Fe Indian Market, the Heard Museum, as well as the Autry Indian Marketplace. Today, she makes her home in Tulsa Oklahoma.
