Ramon Dalangyawma – Hopi
Ramon Dalangyawma began silversmithing in 1978. His designs range from storm, water and crop symbols to religious symbols and depictions of bear, buffalo coyote and other powerful animals. He sometimes incorporates high grade natural turquoise in his extraordinary work.
Ramon uses heavier gauge silver than many Hopi artists, making his work even more collectible. Ramon has received numerous prestigious awards including Santa Fe Indian Market, the Sedona Hopi Show and the Southwest Museum Intertribal Market. We are proud to have worked with Ramon for many years.

Straight from the artist's private collection, this marvelous piece was the winner of the prestigious Charles Loloma Best in Show Award at the 2008 Hopi arts and crafts festival. Ramon Dalangyawma cut out and overlayed twenty eight exquisite dragonflies flying through the air encircling a large dragonfly at the center of the piece. They are all set against an oxidized and etched background symbolizing the night sky. Dragonflies in the Hopi religion represent renewal and are the messengers of the coming springtime. They are often found by water which is essential to the growth and prosperity of the pueblo people. The artist outlined the bodies of these wonderful creatures with patterns that echo this sacred meaning. We have the great privilege of representing Ramon Dalangyawma with this piece on page 179 of Dr. Gregory Schaff's definitive new book American Indian Jewelry II: A-L 1,800 Artist Biographies.
