Ron was born in 1967 in Ganado Arizona. He spent his childhood in Jeddito Arizona watching his grandfather Jim and his dad Ron Sr. making silver jewelry. At the age of twenty he was asked by his cousin and mentor Thomas Jim to help with the buffing, soldering and stamp work at his country shop. Thomas taught him his stamping techniques as did his uncle Edison Sandy Smith. His mother Lutricia, a noted silversmith on her own, was also influential in his early development, encouraging him to deeply stamp thick sterling silver.
Today Ron is acknowledged as the great master of chisel and file silver work, having won first prizes at the Heard museum, Santa Fe Indian market and the Gallup ceremonial. He is unmatched in his attention to the fine details of his extraordinary jewelry!
