Wes Willie- Navajo
Wes grew up in Tec Nos Pos Arizona on the 25000 square mile reservation. His parents were traditional people, shepherding and pastoral pursuits occupying their days. Wes started his career as a pipeline welder working in the oil fields from coast to coast.
Nearing forty years old in 1995, he became interested in the inlay work of Charles Loloma and Preston Monongye and decided to try his hand at inlaid jewelry. Over time he became an heir apparent to these early jewelry pioneers. Today, he has won every prize at competitions such as Santa Fe Indian Market, Gallup ceremonial and the Heard Museum. He is famous for his use of gem grade materials in his jewelry. Only the finest turquoise and oxblood coral are incorporated in his designs. In addition, he uses fine gems and materials wherever he can locate them.
