Navajo jeweler Sammie Kescoli Begay continues to inspire with his mastery of the many techniques of hand wrought silversmithing. This incredible bracelet is made by first carving a design in a tufa stone. The bottom floral design on the piece is carved out of an identical tufa stone. Once the design is complete molten silver is poured into the stone with precision so that each side is identical in size. The two pieces are then soldered together and filed to produce a seamless look. Next he hand pounds the bracelet shank around a steel anvil to create the shape. One side of the bracelet shank is tapered for a perfect fit on the wrist. The stone selected is a rare gem grade natural red webbed Candelaria turquoise. It is a deep blue with colorful host rock matrix. Sammie has set the cabochon in a solid 14K gold hand chiseled bezel. The finished piece is elegant and one of a kind.
