The piece is set with a fabulous specimen of high grade natural Royston turquoise from Nevada with hues of both dark green and blue and chocolate-brown matrix. The artist skillfully encircled the stone with an intricate hand-chiseled bezel and shadowbox effect with dark oxidation. Created by award winning Hopi artist, Chalmers Day, this incredibly intricate overlay bracelet has many unique features. The turtle and pottery design are the central focus of the piece. The turtle symbolizes the life bearing animal who carries the weight of the world on its back. Beautiful water designs swirl around the turtle with six prayer mound figures in the top left hand corner. The pottery symbol carries the corn to feed the people and also includes a water design and four dots representing the four directions and seasons. The detail to the right of the piece is representative of water as well which the artist created with a ripple effect.
