This fine ring features a rare gem grade natural Blue Gem turquoise cabochon from Nevada. Few are aware that two claims were called Blue Gem, one from central Nevada and an older claim further west. This fine map stone comes from the older claim. It is deep electric blue green with gold host rock matrix that swirls throughout. It is set in a hand made bezel encircled in twist wire and an outer chiseled edge signature to the jeweler. The shadowbox is the perfect compliment to the beauty of the stone. The ring is finished with delicate stampwork on either side of the shank.

This fine natural example is cut in a perfect rectangle. A stunning 3D deep aqua green dominates the background. Beautiful gold spiderweb matrix swirls throughout the gem. Navajo jeweler Herman Smith has set it on his signature heavy ten gauge ingot sterling silver rolled and hammered shank, deeply stamped on the sides. Hand braided wire encircles the bezel accompanied by large smooth droplets and stars on either side. He stamps it to match on the interior as the perfect finish to this gorgeous bracelet.

Creation of this beautiful bracelet involves the use of overlay, etching, inlay and advanced lapidary skills. Navajo artist Michael Perry starts with a heavy gauge sterling sheet then overlays a parrot styled design on one side of the shank and a lightning bolt design on the other side. The parrot is finely inlaid bubble style with Morenci turquoise. To each side are small deep red coral rounds. The lightning bolt is flat inlay of gem grade oxblood coral as well with turquoise inserts for effect. To the side are small inlay Morenci rounds. Floated in the center of the piece is a fine gem grade natural Morenci turquoise set in a deeply chiseled bezel. The gem represents the finest quality from the mine and is deep blue with complex black and silver pyrite matrix. A small tear drop of gem grade natural Bisbee turquoise is set flush below the cabochon finishing the piece to perfection.

Sammie Kescoli Begay has rolled this bolo face and tips out of heavy sterling silver ingot. The face of the bolo is then cut out to create the design and deeply stamped with his home made tools. A fine gem grade natural Candelaria turquoise cabochon is selected to be set in an intricate hand chiseled bezel. The gem is classic Candelaria blue with complex reddish brown spider webbing unique to this famous but now depleted mine. The tips of the bolo are equally unique. Rolled and soldered out of ingot sterling, they have large deeply stamped spheres set at each end.

Blue Star is a hat claim found near the Candelaria hills in north central Nevada. A small amount of gem grade spiderweb material was found at the mine before it played out. This exceptional square cut natural cabochon exhibits multiple layers of vibrant shades of blue with reddish and golden-brown spiderweb matrix. Navajo jeweler Thomas Jim has set it in a tall hand chiseled bezel surrounded in twist wire with stars on either side. The upper and lower portions of the ring face are incised with lines that radiate outward. The shank exhibits marvelous individually overlaid patterns brought out with texture and deep oxidation in the lower layer of sterling. His shanks are heavy and complex, among the most unique created today.

The cabochon is a large oval encircled with an intricate hand cut bezel and sits entirely across the shank top with braided wire above and below. The heavy bracelet band is rolled out of sterling silver ingot. It is simply and deeply stamped for effect. Two matching gems set at each end of the shank. The shank of the bracelet is thick beyond what can be bought commercially. The band is deeply stamped into a feather pattern on each side. Five perfectly matched gem grade natural Turquoise Mountain square cabochons are selected to be surrounded in heavy twist wire separated with sterling balls. The gems are sky blue with tight and complex chocolate and golden-brown spiderweb matrix. It is rare to find turquoise cut in squares and rarer still to find a matched set. The bracelet is finished to perfection with an intricate deeply stamped design on the inside.
