The buckle is created with multiple layers of overlayed heavy gauge sterling silver. Leonard has engraved the sterling between the layers reminiscent of the old cowboy buckles of the west. The engraving extends to a shadowbox setting in which a rare gem grade natural Apache Blue spiderweb turquoise sits in the center. The gem combines a gorgeous hue of sky blue with tight reddish and golden-brown spiderweb matrix. Apache Blue is from a small boutique mine in Nevada and is very rare due to the little amount that was produced.

The cabochon exhibits beautiful hues of deep sky blue with reddish-brown matrix. This exceptional stone is surrounded by wonderful detail in labor intensive hand rolled and hammered ingot sterling silver. Made with a very nice heavy gauge, fine bezel work surrounds the specimen accompanied by hand twisted wire and both large and small droplets. Deep stampwork extends the full length of the shank with dark oxidation and intricate detail. Sammie is a true master of traditional design and this piece is a fine, highly collectible example of his work.
