This amazing butterfly bracelet created by award winning Navajo artist Herman Smith features beautiful detail in rolled and hammered sterling silver ingot. The butterfly is well decorated with elaborate stamp work and reposse designs on each of the wings and a hand woven wire antenna. This incredible one of a kind piece hand made by award winning Navajo artist Sammie Kescoli Begay features three spectacular high grade Royston turquoise cabochons. The stones are vibrant with hues of deep and light green and a touch of blue. The turquoise specimens also include golden and chocolate brown matrix adding wonderful character and quality to each stone. The item is out of the artist's private collection from the 1970's, and portrays intricate detail and design with fine cutouts and sterling silver droplets created through the use of a Tufa stone. Tufa casting is an ancient and very traditional process where the artist carves a particular design into a Tufa or Sandstone pours molten silver into it therefore yielding a one of a kind item. This process can only be used two to three times before the design is destroyed by the molten material. This is a much more labor intensive process than conventional investment casting which produces an infinite number of identical images.

Hand made by the 2009 IACA (Indian Arts and Crafts Association) artist of the year Alfred Joe this magnificent piece is in a class of it's own. This outstanding one of a kind item is set with magnificent rare gem grade Royal Blue turquoise with golden brown matrix. This particular type of turquoise was first mined in the 1930's and has rarely been found since that time.
